2008 Finance Point Squash Series - Round Four The 4th round of the Finance Point series took place on Tuesday night, with the continuation of the close contests that have been a feature of the competition so far. All three matches finished 2 all and were decided on sets countback. The local derby between the Wanganui sponsored teams saw Doyle & Associates beat Sportsedge with team sponsor Matt Doyle again keeping his doubles record intact with partner Grant Smith, this time with a close fought win over Ken Mair & Nihi Houia. Other locals Ant Rountree and John Rostenburg fought hard for their respective sponsors but could not secure the wins for their teams this time. Rostenburg, with doubles partner Alan van Rynbach (Higgins team) lost to Jason Burton-Brown/Shaun Grant (Automotive Direct) in a close 4 sets and Rountree (playing for Watties) also went down in four sets to Blair Landers (Inspire Net). After round 3 the points table now has Watties in the lead (48 points), followed closely by Higgins Contractors (45 points). Inspire Net is third (42 points) and the two locally sponsored teams, SportsEdge and Doyle Associates are sitting 4th equal (39 points). They will be keen to push up the ladder in the final weeks of the competition and stay ahead of Automotive Direct who are bringing up the rear (34 points).
